Obituary for Florie Hedrick (Geeter)
Mrs. Florie Geeter Hedrick, 86, passed away Monday June 26, 2017 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
Born September 18, 1930 in Cabarrus County, she was the fourth child of six children to the late Samuel Geeter and Flora McCleave Geeter.
Mrs. Hedrick was a graduate of Carver High School, Kannapolis and retired from the Salisbury Community Service Council as an Onsight administrator with Head Start.
She was a devoted member of Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church, Landis, where she served faithfully with the Life members council, Stewardess Board# 2, Usher board, Sunday School Teacher, Buds of Promise advisor, Girl Scout leader, Senior Choir, Missionary Choir, and Victory Choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Matron "Mr. Huck" Hedrick; daughter, Matroy Hedrick McGhee; sisters, Rojulene Blackburn, Ruth M. Johnson, and Alberta Burton.
She leaves precious and loving memories to her children, Myra Ann Williams of Ewing, NJ., Renee Lindsay (Perry) of SC., Glenda Hedrick Weathers of Salisbury, Gerald Hedrick (Dorothy) of Cornelius, Kimberly Remy (Rene) of Cary, Jackie Hester (Bennett) of Kannapolis; sisters, Willow Atkins of Roosevelt, Long Island, NY., Ruby Geeter Holmes (Harry) of Dover Delaware; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Ernie McGhee of Binghamton, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special others that called her “Mom”, she viewed them as her children
