Obituary for Sylvester Pruitt
Mr. Sylvester Pruitt 82, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born October 9, 1934 in Davie County, he was the son of the late John Matthew Pruitt and Evelyn Vinson Pruitt and reared by stepmother Mamie Jones Pruitt.
Mr. Pruitt was educated in the public schools of Rowan County and attended R.A. Clement High School, Cleveland. He retired from Hoescht Celenese Company.
He was a member of Erwin Temple C.M.E. Church, Woodleaf, where he served in the Men's choir and a former Trustee.
Mr. Pruitt was an avid fisherman and a excellent cook and loved to work in the yard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alan Pruitt; sister, Elizabeth Pruitt Neely; brother Samuel Lee Pruitt.
He leaves precious and loving memories to his devoted wife, Annie Marie Leazer Pruitt of the home; sons, Sylvester L. Pruitt and Matthew F. Pruitt both of Salisbury; daughter, Marsha D. Pruitt, Charlotte ;brothers, Elmer V. Pruitt (Monica), Richmond, VA., Walter L. Pruitt (Collette), Washington, DC., sisters, Dorothy P. Fowler, Laurinton, NY., Christine P. Lazenby (Willie), Cooleemee, Vera H. Eller, Salisbury; sister-in-laws, Mary Ruth Houston, Salisbury, Priscilla B. Leazer, Lumberton; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
