Obituary for Helen Oglesby (Agnew)
Mrs. Helen Agnew Oglesby 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice Home.
Born on April 16, 1941 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late William Agnew, Sr. and Virginia Caldwell Agnew.
She was a graduate of J.C. Price High School, class of 1958 and Livingstone College, class of 1962. She received her Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Mrs. Oglesby was a retired school teacher from the Rowan- Salisbury School System with 30 years of dedicated service. Before declining health, she was an active member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Oglesby, Sr.; brothers, William Agnew, Jr., and Ronald Agnew.
She is survived by her loving son, Phillip Oglesby, Jr of Salisbury, special grandson reared in the home, Jordan Oglesby of Greensboro; other special grandchildren, Jarrett Rivens of Danville, VA., Jayden Oglesby, Jahlil Oglesby and Morgan Oglesby all of Peachland, NC; one great grandchild; loving sister, Brenda Agnew Williams of Salisbury; loving brother, Rufus (Barbara) Agnew of Hollywood, FL.; special niece, Janoah Williams and special nephews, Demond Williams and Thaddeus Williams; special former daughter-in-law, Arlette Scott-Oglesby, and a host aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends.
